Dr. Tadesse Mebrahtu, 61, of Prince George, VA. died Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at Southside Regional Medical Center. Dr. Mebrahtu was born in Asmara, Eritrea, East Africa. Dr. Mebrahtu was the son of the late Mebrahtu Woldeyesus Irit and Tselat Hagos Berhane. He was a Research Scientist/Plant Breeder at Virginia State University. He was a member of Crop Science Society of America and American Society of Agronomy. He is survived by his wife, Aurora C. Mebrahtu, two daughters, Dr. Semret T. Mebrahtu and Asmara T. Mebrahtu, two brothers, Amare and Tesfamariam, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 3, 2010 at 1:00 PM in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service with the Rev. Dr. Ivan Perkinson officiating. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4240 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, Virginia, 23060. Condolences may be registered with www.jtmorriss com
