Charles Raymond Atkinson, 92, of Richmond, VA died on Sunday, March 21, 2010. He was born in Richmond, VA, the son of the late John B. and Florence Mitchell Atkinson. Mr. Atkinson was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Howard Atkinson; brother, John B. Atkinson; and sister, Virginia E. Atkinson. He was retired from Dupont after over 30 years of service at the Spruance plant location. Mr. Atkinson was a veteran of World War II. He is survived by his children, Nancy A. Dillon and husband, Richard, Judy A. Bess, and husband, Rae, and Gloria A. Strang, and husband, Raymond; grandchildren, Carol M. Dillon, R. Scott Dillon, and wife, Jennifer, Laura Bess, Becky Baugus, and husband, James, and Angie Strang; great grandchildren, Jackson, Katie, Dean, and Madison. The family will receive friends at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 24, 2010 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will follow on Thursday, March 25 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
