Emma Jennings Hinson Wilson, 99, died Monday, March 8, 2010 in Dinwiddie Couny. Born in Sussex County she was the oldest of 14 children of the late James William Jennings and Annie Belle Harrison Jennings and the last surviving. She was preceded in death by her husbands George E. Hinson and R. Kenneth Wilson, Sr. and two grandsons, Greg Davis and Kyle Wynn. She was the oldest member of Smith’s Grove United Methodist Church. She is survived by her stepchildren, Robert (Bob) K. Wilson (Barbara), Ann W. Davis and Sally W. Dearing (Scott). “Miss Emma”, as she was known to her neighbors was the much loved ‘Granny” to her grandchildren, Cathy Wilson, Kim Jones (Mike), Richard Wilson (Tammy), Mike Davis (Vickie), Linda Hubert (Gary), Debbie McCoy (Johnny) and Bobby Dearing (Rhonda). Also, there are 19 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. During her illnesses she was cared for by many wonderful caregivers and family members, among them Vicki Jennings, Mira Caudill, Teresa Wilson, Wilma Phillips and the late Lecolia Nixon, Betty Walker, Dot Jennings and Virginia Jennings. The family would also like to thank the entire staff of Dinwiddie Health and Rehabilitation Center for the loving care given to Emma while she resided there. A graveside service will held 1:00 pm Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Smith Grove United Methodist Church in Dinwiddie County with interment to follow in the church cemetery. In the event of inclement weather, services will be held inside the church. The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the services. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Crater Community Hospice, 3916 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, VA 23805. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com.

I realize at a time like this, there is very little one can do or say, but I want you to know you have my deepest sympathy.

God needed another angel so he called Miss Emma

Remembering a special Step Mom who gave so much to our family. Her love for family and friends showed in her daily life and also her love for God. She will always be remembered as a special Granny to our family. Ann Wilson Davis
