Condolences

To my DAD,
I will miss you so much. The pain and the loneliness that I feel is overwhelming, but I know that you are no longer suffering and in a better place. I also know that I will see you again and that makes it alittle better. I hope you know how proud I am to be your daughter and how much I love you. I'm going to miss hugging you and giving you big, fat kisses on your forehead, hearing you tell me you love me, and our 7:00pm calls. (I had to always do 7 so Jacob wouldn't bother me. He was in the shower at that time!)You are the greatest dad and you will always be MY HERO!!! I LOVE YOU AND MISS YOU!! PS You had a standing room service! WOW! I'm so proud of you!
Love forever,
Angie

Family & Friends of Jerry "Thunder". Whenever I think of Jerry, I always go back to our PHS years when our friendship began. His mischief always made me laugh. I remember our fun times at Lake Gaston, the reunion weekends at Camp Pendleton, the laughs we would have whenever our paths would cross, and in the later years, our class dinners at Carini's. Jerry was always good for a joke and a laugh and was a person who loved his fellow man. Even during his suffering and when in the hospital, he could always bring a smile to my face. He was a great lifelong friend and will be greatly missed. I will always treasure his friendship in my heart. It's so comforting to know, that though he suffered much, he now rests in the hands of Jesus, pain is no more and he is at peace. Love & prayers, Carol Wrenn

My Brother Jerry,
Although I didn't want you to go. God had other plans for you I know.

The Love and memories we shared growing up together will never be forgotten. You loved the Redskins and as you knew, that's my team too.

I rememberd the way you always liked to rub your head, so when you couldn't no more, I rubbed it for you.

The pain and suffering you have gone through is no more, because now you are finally HOME.
Love Les ( Lessie )

You were always my favorite nephew even tho you would not keep the horse still while I tried to get on it. We both landed in the gravel road with you on top of me, and we still had to go catch that horse and bring it home.

Joyce and I will always remember you.

To Jerry's family, he was my best friend since our sophmore year in high school and we still are. I want you to know how much he loved each and everyone of you. We will all miss him very much and i want to tell you that a long time ago jerry made a decision with our lord that garanteed him eternal life in heaven. Nobody could ever take that away from him. So i know where he is today, but that doesn't mean we can't mourn him until we see him again.

To Grace and All the Kids:
Our families were inseparable for many years and every time Jerry and I ran across each other, it was always Wanda Jean that I heard from him. We talked about all of the times that we had played together and of course about our families and how much older we had become. Even though we all took different paths in life, I fondly remember those times that he and I talked about. He always brought a smile to my face and a warmth in my heart that I will never forget.

Uncle Jerry,
I will miss you dearly. Eventhough we did not stay in touch at all you always were and always will be my uncle. I am sorry to find out that you were so sick and no one in the family mentioned it to me. I hope that you are finally at peace and I hope you always know that I have always prayed for your well being as well as the rest of the family. I know you will be greatly missed by all who knew you. Now that you are going to be with my pa-pa keep an eye on him and let him know that I still miss him. Love you Uncle Jerry!!!!

To the family and friends of Jerry Thornton :

My friendship with Jerry goes back over forty years. We met at Petersburg High School in the early 1960's and have kept in touch ever since. It would be hard to find anyone in the tri-city area that didn't know Thunder Thornton. Whenever Jerry and I met, we always shared stories of our working days at Brown and Williamson Tobacco but being the school cut-ups we both were, we always ended up reminiscing our old high school days. I've made several hospital visits over the last five months hoping one day the front desk would tell me that the doctor had discharged him, and he had gone home. The nickname Thunder was given to him years ago by Forrest Tucker, and it became his new name to everyone. Matter of fact Forrest Tucker and I had made plans to visit with him this morning, only to get the sad news of his passing last night. As we all know he had been through alot during his six months hospital stay, and I guess it was God's will that it was time to bring him home. Jerry made a lot of friends in his life, and I'm one that will always cherish his memory. One thing for sure he will be missed by many. God Bless... Your Old Friend Russell "Butch" Davis - Disputanta Virginia.

"Thunder"
I miss you sooo much already and it's hard to think you are gone. I know you are in a much better place and finally at peace. Since June you tried so hard to get to where you needed to be to go home, but there was always another bout of infection knocking you down again, bouncing you back and forth from hospital to nursing home, setting you back to square one. I'am sure you knew how much it hurt each of us to watch you go through all that. I watched you as you left us and saw a Peace on your face I had never seen before. Your strength and determination during these last few months was something I will always remember. I Love You Brother!
( oh, don't forget the Yogourt - IT's GOOD FOR YOU!)

Love You
Elva
