Harrison, Calvin P.

Calvin Perry Harrison, age 79, of Prince George County, died on Sunday, December 27, 2009. Born in Hopewell, he was the son of the late Oliver J. and Mildred Davis Harrison. He was a U. S. Air Force veteran and was employed by Union Camp for 15 years. He later retired from Hopewell Paper Company, a business which he established in 1972. Mr. Harrison, a member of the American Legion, enjoyed participating in softball and played on the American Legion ball team. He also enjoyed spending time at his waterfront cabin and fishing. Mr. Harrison was preceded in death by two brothers, Oliver Harrison, Jr. and Lester Harrison. He is survived by his loving wife, Darles Robinette Harrison; daughter, Rebecca Kite and husband, Wesley of Chester; son, J. Alan Carter and wife, Kathy of Richmond; grandchildren, Wes Kite, Cynthia Carter and Jennifer Carter; great-grandchild, Kierson Kite; sister, Vivian Fike, of Newark, DE; nephews, Mark Harrison, Gregg Harrison and wife, Judy and Douglas Fike and wife, Vickie; nieces, Patsy Waller, Pamela Elder and husband, Gilbert, and Paula McDaniel; numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, and many loving friends. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 29th at the Hopewell chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Gilbert Elder officiating. Interment will follow in Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens, Prince George, VA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hopewell Emergency Crew, Prince George Emergency Crew, or to a charity of your choice.
