Dorothy Bryant Taylor, 89, of Ford, VA widow of Elvin Allen Taylor died Tuesday, December 15, 2009. She was a native of Wakefield and daughter of the late John W. and Leatha Bell Bryant. Dorothy & Elvin were residents of Dinwiddie Courthouse area for 45 years prior to moving to Ford. She was a retired waitress of 10 years at Nottoway Restaurant. She loved her flowers and working in her flower garden; she had a great love for all animals especially her cat. She is survived by her two daughters, Diane Taylor Sheets and husband, Raymond, Sr. of Ford, VA and Cathy Taylor Duffer and husband, Robert, Jr. of White Stone, VA; four grandchildren, David Allen Mayton and wife, Stephanie of Chester, Caroline E. Sheets, Eugene Sheets both of Ford, VA and Robert C. Duffer, III of Ft. Benning, GA; two great-grandchildren, Jacob Allen and Caitlin Nicole Mayton both of Chester, VA; special sister-in-law, Rodessa King of White Plains, VA. A grave side memorial service will be conducted 2:00 pm Friday, December 18, 2009 in Blandford Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5-7 pm at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to American Cancer Society Petersburg Unit, Wesy Chappell, 1117 Fort Hayes

Diane, I am sorry about the lost of your mom. I know you were always right there doing for her and taking care of her kitty. Just remember she is in a better place now looking down on you and your family.
