John Petik, Sr., 95, of Prince George County, VA, died Thursday, November 12, 2009 in Hopewell Healthcare Center. Mr. Petik was born in Hopewell and had been a lifelong resident of this area. He was a charter member of the Prince George Volunteer Fire Department, a former member of the Prince George Ruritan Club, a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church, a retired supervisor at Fort Lee, VA. and a retired farmer. Mr. Petik was the son of the late Andrew and Mary Liptak Petik. He is survived by his wife, Mary P. Petik, two sons, John Petik, Jr., Andrew M. Petik and wife Kathy all of Prince George County, VA., three grandchildren, CW3 Daniel Petik & wife Wendy of Ft. Benning, GA, 1st LT David Petik, stationed in Iraq, WO1 Dustin Petik of Ft. Rucker, AL, a brother, George A. Petik and his wife Eleanor, of Wilmington, DE, many nieces, nephews and sisters-in-law. A devotional service will be held Friday, November 13, 2009 at 7:00 PM in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home with visitation to follow until 8:30 PM. A funeral service will be held Saturday, November 14, 2009 at 2:00 PM in Nazareth Lutheran Church with Pastor David Voss officiating. Interment will be in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, VA. We have been out of town and just learned of your loss. We have always been very fond of John, and know that he is now with our Lord.

I am so sorry to hear about John Sr. He was a dear person to myself and my family. I know that he is now with our Heavenly Father and not suffering. I will be out of town Saturday, but all of you are in my thoughts and prayer.
