Helen Louise Taylor King, 87, life long resident of Petersburg, VA, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2009 at Southside Regional Medical Center. She had been a current resident of Colonial Heights Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, Colonial Heights, VA. Helen was born on January 24, 1922, in Victoria, VA, and as a young child moved with her parents and siblings to Petersburg, VA. She graduated from Petersburg High School in 1940 and was a previous Federal employee of the Defense General Supply Center, Richmond, VA. Her church membership was at Elm Street Baptist Church, Petersburg, VA, and in her later years Pine Grove Baptist Church of Dinwiddie County, VA. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, John Percivall Taylor and Amy Gertrude Douglas Taylor; her loving husband, Herbert Cleveland King, Jr. and her sisters, Doris Dickens, Ruth Gunter, Bertha Black and Maxine Morris. Surviving members of Helen’s family are her two sons, Herbert Cleveland King, III, (Sonny) and his wife, Diane; John Wayne King; and her two daughters, Linda K. Cothron and Sharon K. Nolan. She also leaves many wonderful memories to her seven grandchildren (Kimberly Elksnis, Tracy Lather, Theresa King, April Price, Ralph (BJ) Cothron, Dylan Nolan, and Caitlin Nolan). She was also blessed with eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she was devoted to her family and the Lord. She will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank the staff at Colonial Heights Health Care and Rehabilitation Center for their care and support. The family will receive friends at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service on Wednesday, October 7, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 8, 2009 at Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to either the American Heart Association or the American Diabetic Association. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com.

Sonny,Wayne,Sharon and Family. Please accept my sincere condolences. I am sorry to here about your Mom. I used to enjoy seeing her when I would stop by with your Dad(and your Uncle Jack at times) and also when I would deliver mail by. I know she will be missed.My thoughts are with you. I have thought of you all over the years.
