Condolences

Dear Jean and Edward, My gosh, I just came across Field's obituary by complete accident while researching something else. I am a Kenston Forest graduate Class of '75 and have fond memories of all of you, and fun trips on the green bus coming and going to all of the athletic events. I am so, so sorry for your loss. My heart is full for you.

Warmest regards,

I am so sorry to hear about Mr. Baskerville passing... I have to say he was my favorite teacher at Carter G. Woodson. He always knew how to make learning fun! I will always cherish his silly awards he used to give out to us. Mine being "Best Wave to Boyfriend at Lunch"(which I have kept for 8 years now) . He always knew how to make us laugh! My condolences go out to his family! He was a great man. Rest in peace Mr. B!

Jill and Family,

I was blessed enough to teach on the same team as Jill and have a classroom across from Field at C.C. Wells Elementary. He would often greet his colleagues with a smile and great cheer, with a touch of humor. He was a wonderful man of God. Whenever I got to school early enough, I would get to hear Field play worship music on his guitar. He would do this almost everyday. This really ministered to me that this man would kneel before God daily before attempting to touch and teach young lives. He knew that God was his help. Truly you could see God working through him everyday,as you saw the relationship he had with his students. He loved his students, and his students in return loved him. He was comfortable enough with his students that he could let them see his sense of humor. He didn't take himself too seriously, which I enjoyed. I love seeing the beautiful relationship he had with Jill. It was fun being a colleague to a husband and wife team. He would always come in to one of our classrooms and try to make Jill, along with our second grade team, laugh when the school day could be a little stressful. I enjoyed knowing Field. I am honored that God let us know one of His precious treasures for just a little while, but I can't blame Him for wanting Field all to himself. I imagine Field sitting before God's majestic throne playing beautiful worship music on his guitar. I look forward to seeing him again in heaven. Jill, you are equally a treasure from heaven. God knew what He was doing when he blessed Field with such a wonderful, strong woman of faith. I pray for you and your family. May God strengthen and keep you.

To Feild's family - I attended Kenston Forest School the same time Feild was there. He was in class with my older brother and Feild was always such a pleasant person to be around. He always had a smile on his face and a kind word even for us younger 'kids'!! He is truly in a much better place with no sickness or pain and waiting until we all meet again. God Bless you and your family.

I was so sorry to hear about Mr. Baskerville's passing. We were out of town when we got the news on Friday. My son, George, was lucky enough to have Mr. Baskerville as a teacher at Carver Middle. As we were at the beach, we went down to the water at sunset and my son wrote his name in the sand, along with "you're awsome". George then said a few words to him and spread some flower petals in the ocean and we watched them for a while make their way out to sea. I only had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Baskerville a few times, but I wanted to let you know what a wonderful teacher we thought he was, and a special person as well. George just loved being in Mr. B's class at Carver, and he will miss him very much.

To the family of Feild Baskerville,

Where to begin? Feild has been such a blessing to the faculty, staff, and students at Carver Middle School for the past 3 years. Working with Feild, who always had a smile on his face, yard stick in hand, and something witty to say, was always the highlight of my day. No matter how my day went I could always count on Feild to cheer me up. He cared so much about his students and it showed through his teaching. Even after the school nurse deemed him "obese" at one point and I jokingly called him "Mr. Obesekerville," he kept that glow about him that always made me smile. I will never forget Feild and his neverending faith in God. He is a true inspiration to anyone who doubts the Lord's blessings and existence. He will be missed.

Love you, Feild! Until we meet again, Amy Jordan

WoW! Where to began. Field was such a wonderful person who touched so many lives. My son Brandon was so blessed to have Field as a teacher, and I was blessed to have known him and Jill. I will always have wonderful memories of him. Field loved his students and he loved chocolate pie, matter of fact, he loved chocolate period. I couldn't just make one pie. I made two. One coconut for Jill, and a chocolate for Field. He would take his pie and hide it so no one else could eat it, or he would tell his kids to stay out of his pie. I will miss you so much, as will many others. Jill, I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. If you ever need anything, please call me. I am here for you.
May God Bless each and everyone of you.

CCC: That's my friend - always cool, calm and collected, and I have to say - the most interesting friend I have every had. Feild and I became neighbors some 25 years or so ago and soon thereafter became the best of friends. Feild always enjoyed life and could bring out the best in almost everyone. His love of sports, his competitiveness, and his compassion will never be forgotten. In coaching he taught that it was more important to learn how to play the game, not just to win ( but to win he loved). To Jill, Tyler, Wes, Ashley, Greg, Aaron and Selena; to Channing, Libba, Edward and Jeanie - my thoughts, prayers and condolences to all of you on not just your loss, but to the loss to the community. We can only look up to see his smile in the clouds.

Like many at Carver, I regret that we only had you for a short time, but we know that heaven is a better place because you are there. There are so many lucky children to have crossed the threshold of your classrooms through the years, and many more who will surely miss the lessons you would have taught them. We thank you for your wisdom, guidance, professionalism, kindness, and most of all your strength and example. May all of the Baskerville family be blessed with the memories of what a wonderful person you were, and be comforted by the hands of God during this painful time. Blessings to all of you.

Dear Jill and family,

Our deepest sympathies to you and your family. Field was a great guy and we could not have asked for a better neighbor. We will miss all those discussions at the backyard fence and I know Lauren will miss one of her most beloved teachers. She always spoke very highly of 'Mr. Baskerville' and loved to walk over and talk to him to see how he was doing. You will be in our prayers. If there is anything we can do for you, we are just on the other side of that fence. Please don't hesitate.

How do you find the words to say you love someone. How do you remember someone the way you want to remember them. I will always remember Fields laugh. I loved him. (camping and youth group) He lived life.

He so enjoyed talking about his family and it was very evident how much he loved you all. He will truly be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to you at this difficult time.

You will continue to be in our thoughts and prayers throughout the days and weeks to come. We sat as a family last evening remembering Field and the fond memories we have of him. Hannah Beth was very moved by the news of his illness and passing. Field was a voice of knowledge and encouragment to her during her years at CC Wells. Much love to each of you...

Jill and family - I am a classmate of Feild's from Kenston Forest School. Feild was such a fun-loving, happy guy! We were a close class since it was only about 50 of us - Feild and Jean, Tommy Atkinson, Ann Rives, Coleman Boisseau, the Talleys - all of that group from McKenney were such a part of our high school years - such fond memories ----The road was kept hot between McKenney and Blackstone - I connected with Feild on facebook a couple months back and he told me he was sick - so sorry about his illness and your family's loss. We will all miss and remember him - Laura Vaughan Bragg

Feild was an amazing person and I feel so blessed to have known him. He will be greatly missed; especially his sense of humor and his compassion for others.
We have known each other for a long time and have worked together in Hopewell and Chesterfield. We often spent time talking about our families and about the many students we have taught through the years.
I will miss you Feild but I know you are in a wonderful place and I am sure that gives your family some sense of peace. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Mr. Baskerville was usually the first face I saw each morning as I entered Carver. This was my first year teaching and my room is across from the copier, so I would see him daily doing his copies with "meter" stick in hand or standing outside of Jason Deckert's office chatting with his "meter" stick in hand. Like Feild, I was one of those who arrived at school at 6am. I've missed seeing him there on my early mornings greeting me as he always did. He made it a point to make me feel as if I were a part of the Carver family early on. He also made it a point to learn my name ASAP....it actually became a joke between us. I remember one morning I asked him about his children ....boy did he love talking about his children. He was so proud of their accomplishments. He will truly be missed in the halls of Carver!!! We were comforted with Feild's strong faith and the comfort and peace he had in it. I will continue to pray for his family. He will forever be remembered as one of the "favorite teachers at Carver" as "the teacher stading in the hallway with his meter stick", and as a "wonderful and caring man". Feild, you will be missed but never forgotten!

A unique teacher and colleague, Field will be missed. His consistent smile, warm greeting, and, of course, wooden yard stick, were his trademarks at Carver Middle. Field brought out the best in people through inspiration and example. He will always be a model for teachers and students to follow. We were lucky to know him. Your family is in my constant prayers.

My deepest sympathy to the Baskerville family. I haven't known you for a long period of time, but long enought to know what a wonderful Christian couple you are. Being in the prison misistry said so much about your caring ways and need to share the Lord with those that are down troadin and those that are forgotten. God will be welcoming such a wonderful man into heaven. I know he will be very much missed. He has left many wonderful memories for you all to share. Take care, you will only be seperated by this short time one earth.

I want to send my deepest sympathies to Feild's family at this time of sorrow. I first met Feild when he was teaching literature at Carter G. Woodson. I want to just say that Feild was a good man, with a big heart. He was good teacher and mentor. He will always be remembered for his great sense of humor, his teaching styles, and the happiness he brought to all of the lives he touched.

Feild will always be a precious memory for us especially as our youth leader at St.Matthews. We will never forget the inspiration he was with his wonderful sense of faith, spirit and laughter to our young people. We will never be able to express what he meant to Lana especially the time he attended Happening with her. If there is a youth group in Heaven he will lead it! Our prayers and love are with the family.
