Dean Moyer Walters of Richmond, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 4, 2009. He was born March 12, 1938 in Bent Mountain, Virginia to the late Witt and Perdine Walters. He was preceded in death by a son, Dwayne Walters; three brothers, Carlton, Bobby and Billy Walters; a sister, Shirley Thompson; and a brother-in-law, Bee Thompson. Mr. Walters is survived by his wife, of 22 years, Vicki B. Walters; children, Vicky W. Via and husband, Gerald of Roanoke, Virginia, Cathy Sowers and husband, Wendell of Christiansburg, Virginia, and a step-daughter, Terrie Martin and husband, Ed of Chesterfield, Virginia; two granddaughters, Melissa V. Johnson and husband, Brian of Fincastle, Virginia and Trisha T. Heidt and husband, Chris of Radford, Virginia; three great-grandchildren, Ashleigh, Emma and Eli Johnson of Fincastle, Virginia; mother-in-law, Geraldine Blair; brother-in-law, Les Blair and wife, Lorraine of Richmond, Virginia; sisters-in-law, Clair, Totsy and Peggy Walters; former wife, Bonnie Dunn of Roanoke; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. He is also survived by his adored feline friends, Muffin and Lucy. A funeral service will take place at the Chesterfield chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home on Saturday, March 7, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 6, 2009 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, and again on Saturday one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Prevent-A-Litter (P.A.L.), 3421 West Cary Street, Richmond, Virginia 23221. Dear "Cuz", Terrie and Family,

So sorry for your loss AND our loss as a family. Dean was a genuinely wonderful person and I'll never forget his contagious laugh and jokes. We're all better people for knowing him. May you rest assured that God has him wrapped in his arms, with loving care.
Wish the miles weren't so far so I could be there with you all. You're in my heart, thoughts and prayers all the time. LOVE YOU!!! (more than you'll ever know)

Sorry to hear about Dean, He and I spent a lot of time together back in the latter 70's. He tooke me up to Don Reno's house in Maryland. He was just a good old guy to be friends with. Will miss him.
