Akers, Henry C.

Henry Clyde Akers, 93, of Hopewell passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2009. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ada Wheeling Akers and his son, Gary Wesley Akers. Henry served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and later retired as a millwright from local 1402 in Richmond. He was an avid NASCAR fan and a master gardener. Henry is survived by his wife, Mable Dalton Akers; children, Sharon L. Akers of Seattle, WA and Michael W. Akers, Sr. and wife, Peggy of Hopewell, VA; grandchildren, Anne Murray and husband, Jeff, Michael W. Akers, Jr., Susan Leslie, and James Turner, Jr.; seven great grandchildren and a sister, Mary Sue Thornton of Pulaski, VA. The family will receive friends at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 from 7:30 to 8:30 pm. A private service will be held at a later date at Highland Memorial Gardens in Dublin, VA. We are so saddened by Uncle Henry's passing. You are hourly in our prayers as we pray for God in His Soverign Grace to minister to our entire family.

We loved him so much,(& we love you very much Aunt Mable). We pray for God's peace to touch each one with every passing day. Our love to all! Please take care.
