Jay Franklin Vansant 68 went to be with the Lord on January 30, 2009. He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Owen and her husband, Eugene; his father, Henry Vansant, Sr. and his wife, Katherine; brothers Henry, Jr. and William; sister Kathy; and great-granddaughter Nevaeh Faith Gentry. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 32 years, Barbara; sister, Sue (Doug) Juanarena; brother Stuart; son Sam (Susan) Wilson; daughter Linnie (Mike) Scruggs, step-children Debra Wilson and Joe Wilson; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; many cherished brothers and sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, February 3, 2009 from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. at the J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 3050 West Hundred Road, Chester, Virginia 23831. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at 11 A.M. at the funeral home with interment following in Sunset Memorial Park. I met Jay when I worked with Phil White on Jeff Davis Hwy. I am so sorry for your loss. Jay was one of the kindest and gentlest men I have ever known and I was proud to consider him a friend.
