Hughes, Ruth M.Saturday, January 17, 2009
Ruth Marie Hughes, 76, of Petersburg, passed away Friday January 16, 2009. She was the daughter of the late Hugh & Bessie Vaughan Bailey and the widow of retired CWO3 William Jamie Hughes. Ruth was employed as a fulltime sales representative at Thalhimers and a part time Sales representative at J.C. Penny’s and retired after a combined time of 15 years dedicated service. She is survived by her daughter Debbie H. Winall of Stallings, NC, sister: Bessie Chumney & husband Sonny of Lunenburg Co., brother; Hugh Bailey, Jr. & wife Audrey of Wylliesburg, one niece and one nephew. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association / Greater Richmond, 4600 Cox Road., Suite 130, Glen Allen, Virginia 23060. My parents (Helen and Glenn Ricks) were stationed with your parents in Germany and at Fort Lee in the fifties and sixties. They always seemed to have a good time whenever they got together, I was young and remember very little but I do recall the largest poodle I had ever seen up to that time.
