Hughes, Ruth V.

Ruth Virginia Hughes, 80, died Thursday, September 25, 2008. She was the daughter of the late Edgar and Hattie Dinkins Barker. Ruth was a member of Kingsland Baptist Church and a devout Christian. She is preceded in death by her husband, Forrest Hughes; brothers, Harold Barker and Denny Barker. She is survived by her daughters Ruth Anne Shorter and husband Paul of Littleton, NC, Rebecca Jayne Davis of Dillwyn, VA; grandchildren Benny Bishop of Ashland, VA, Candy White and husband David of Henrico, VA, Paul Shorter, Jr. of Virginia Beach, VA, Rebecca Winn and husband Raymond of Dillwyn, VA; great-grandchildren Micah and Keith Winn, Sydney White, Tyler and Justin Bishop; sisters, Judy Walker of Boonville, NC and Anna Lee Hardy and husband Roger of Dobson, NC; Sister-in-law Audrey Barker of Chesterfield, VA; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 3:00 – 5:00 p.m., Sunday, September 28, 2008 at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service. A memorial service will be held in her honor on Monday, September 29, 2008 in the Amelia, Virginia Veteran’s Cemetery chapel at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Kingsland Baptist Church 8801 Perrymont Rd.
