James Elmo Goodwyn, 93, of Stony Creek died Monday, September 22, 2008 at his residence. He was the son of the late Albert T. and Caroline Bass Goodwyn. He was retired from the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture. He is survived by two sisters, Bernice Pendleton of Alexandria, VA and Margaret Warner of Richmond, VA Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 pm Thursday, September 25, 2008 at the Goodwyn Family Cemetery with the Rev. John Romaine officiating. The family is being served by the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com. Condolences
I was very sorry to hear of Elmo's passing. He was a great help to me in my early years with ASCS. I worked for him briefly in 1972 and later he and I had offices in the same district. I could always count on him for good advice and help with work related problems. Elmo was a real gentleman of the old school. May God be with you at this sad time.
