Bennett, Lloyd L.Saturday, September 20, 2008
Lloyd Lee Bennett, 77, of Hopewell, died Saturday, September 20, 2008. He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a retired employee of the City of Hopewell. He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Myrtle Meadows Bennett, and his wife, Shirley A. Bennett. He is survived by four sons, Gene Sober, Jr. and companion, Robin, David Bennett, Sr., Steve Bennett, Sr. and companion, Delinda, Mark Bennett and wife, Amy, two daughters, Debbie Adams, and husband, Larry, Dianna Bennett and husband, Eddie, 17 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, two sisters, Carrie Long and Maxine Ames and two brothers, Clyde Bennett and Gerald Bennett. The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 24, 2008 from 6-8 p.m. in the Hopewell Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held in the chapel on Thursday, September 25, 2008 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Appomattox Cemetery, Hopewell, Virginia. To the Bennett family, Dad, you are the greatest man I've ever known. The wisdom, and guidance you've given me over the years is second to none. I thank you for all that you've passed on to me over the years, and it is because of you that I am what I am today. Thank you so much for everything. To the rest of the family and friends I'd like to say thank you for your thoughts and prayers. Dad is at peace now with Mom, and I'm sure he's looking down with pride and happiness at the great family and wonderful friends he truly loved.
