Donaldson, Camille B.

Saturday, September 13, 2008

VIRGINIA BEACH, VIRGINIA
Camille Bailey Donaldson, 61, a resident of Virginia Beach, died Saturday, September 13, 2008 in a local hospital. Born February 10, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Roger J. and Margaret Rosser Bailey. Camille graduated from Radford College in 1969. She was also a graduate of Averett University with degrees in Early Childhood Education. She taught for several years in the Virginia Beach public school system, until health issues forced her to retire. Camille is survived by her husband of 35 years, James William Donaldson; a son, James Roger Donaldson of Medina, OH; and a brother, Charles Bailey of Wakefield.

A talented Christian woman, Camille genuinely and enthusiastically lived her life according to the principles of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. In her early life, she was a very active member of the Rocky Hock United Methodist Church (UMC) in Wakefield, where she and her mother taught Vacation Bible School (VBS) for many years. As an affiliated member of Courthouse Community UMC in Virginia Beach, she has participated in a wide variety of activities. She was the first president of the United Methodist Women; taught VBS for several years; was active in many Bible study groups; and started the first church library. She was a talented artist and used her love of arts and crafts to start the Crafts Bizarre at Courthouse Community UMC. Camille was currently the Treasurer and a member of the Board of Directors of Virginia Beach TRIAD. She was also instrumental in starting the Neighborhood Watch in her community. In all of these activities and accomplishments, Camille exhibited the humility of a servant who never sought nor expected recognition for her efforts.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at Courthouse Community UMC in Virginia Beach, with Rev. Fred Brockhausen and Rev. Fran Cooper presiding. A reception for Camille’s family and friends will follow in the church fellowship hall. Burial will be private in Rocky Hock Church Cemetery, Wakefield.

Memorial donations may be made to the Courthouse Community UMC, Building Fund, 1708 Princess Anne Rd., Virginia Beach, VA 23456. Purviance Chapel, J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, Wakefield is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences may be posted at our web site at www.jtmorriss.com.

Condolences

Jim, Jimmy and family,
Camille was a true Christian in every sense of the word....everything she did was truly from the heart. She loved the Lord with all her being and it showed. She will truly be missed by many, especially her Christian sisters in the United Methodist Women. May you all feel comforted knowing that the Lord has her in his embrace now. Love, Joyce Burdon

Sending our love to the family as you grieve the loss of Camille. I find my heart full of celebration as I know Camille is with her Savior. She shared freely of her near death experience of years ago, and in no way feared death, but looked forward to being reunited with her Lord. May all her friends here comfort you in your grief as she is freed from her physical pain and suffering. She touched many lives and made an impact on many women including me.

Dear Jim and family
We know Camille is in a WAY BETTER place! Her giving spirit truly touched many for the Lord. And no doubt, as stated above, she is already at work among the angels! Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time of loss.

Dear Charles, and Bailey family,

My heart and prayers go to you and your family during the time of your loss.
Camille was such a warm, wonderful, and active soul. She was an inspiration to me as a child and I have always treasured the times she baby sat me. I loved coming out to the farm and spending time with her and your parents. Those were fun times and never forgotten. We spent hours fishing and talking. She never allowed me to be bored or unwelcomed. She was a born leader and teacher.

I will always keep our memories warm and in my heart. Camille will live on in the hearts of those she touched in her every day life. She's among the many angels that look over us, and I have no doubt she's already hard at work.

God bless each of you in your time of mourning.

Respectfully,
