Lucille Atkins Robbins, 89 of Hopewell, died September 8, 2008. She was born in Mineral, Virginia. and was a former resident of Colonial Heights. Mrs. Robbins was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church of Colonial Heights, the Dorcus Sunday School Class, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Woodmen of the World, Beech Camp #264 .
Mrs. Robbins was preceded in death by her parents, James William and Henrietta Waldrop Atkins and her husband, Mitchell H. Robbins, her twin sister, Louise Green and Evelyn Griffin and brothers, James and Aubrey Atkins Surviving are her son, James Mitchell Robbins and wife Deannie of Hopewell, her daughter, Margaret R. Catlett and husband James, of Chester, grandchildren, Chrissy Catlett, Dale Catlett, Timmy Catlett and wife Sherry, Sharon Neal and husband Chris, and Michael Robbins and wife Callie, seven great grandchildren, two brothers, G. Melvin Atkins and wife Elsie Mae of Hopewell and Lewis S. Atkins and wife Elizabeth of Edgewater, Maryland . The family will receive friends Thursday, September 11, 2008 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. in the Hopewell Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Friday, September 12, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Hopewell chapel with the Rev. Chris Jenkins, Rev. Dr. Alex Roberts both of Unity Baptist Church and Rev Fred Adkins, associate pastor of Immanuel Baptist officiating. Interment will be in Bermuda Memorial Park, Chester, Va. Condolences

I knew Lucille for many years. Our children grew up together at First Baptist Church in Hopewell and two of mine of were in the nursery at the same time as a her daughter Margaret. I hadn't seen for her for some time, but I will still greatly miss her. My condolences go out to her family.

I have very fond memories of your Mom and have always thought very highly of her. A sweeter spirit you will not find. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
