Gibbs, Elsie H.

Elsie Mae Hobbs Gibbs, 86, of Petersburg, widow of John Nelson Gibbs, passed away Sunday, August 31, 2008. Born in Prince George, VA, she was the daughter of the late Harry Hampton and Ellie Mae Harrison Hobbs. She was a 1940 graduate of Disputanta High School, a retired employee of Rucker Rosenstock Department Store and a member of Elm Street Baptist Church. Mrs. Gibbs was preceded in death by a sister, Alma Hobbs Horne. She is survived by a brother, Harry H. Hobbs, Jr. and wife, Elizabeth of Spring Grove, VA; sister, Betty Hobbs Minetree of Petersburg; foster brother, Floyd Horne and wife, Nancy of Spring Grove; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 3, at Blandford Cemetery with The Rev. Harvey Skinner, Pastor of Elm Street Baptist Church, officiating.
