Our family has been through so much this year. It feels like a test of our strength to life and family. At a time like this I do remember cherished memories of my childhood, my family and how I became who I am now. I have quite a few special memories of Billy. I remember spending the night with Cathy and Billy when I was young. I got so homesick (first time away from home) but they both helped me get through it by talking and understanding. I received my first Harrietta Award (some of you will know what that is) due to Billy. It was such a special moment in my life and still is a special memory. Billy seemed to be in the moment when I needed him the most. He listened when I needed to talk, danced with me when I needed a partner (even if it was around a hole in the floor on Franklin Street), and understood when I was young and trying to find my way. As long as I can remember is has always been Cathy & Billy. You could not say one name without the other one in a sentence. Cathy, please remember and never forget, how blessed you were to have been able to share your life with such a special man. You had 37 years together, whether they were easy or tough you had him to take the journey with. I wish for you now guidance, sympathy and the strength to carry on. The future is still out there and he would hope only the best for you. Thank you Billy for sharing a part of your life with me. I have been blessed to have known you. You will be missed. With love, your cousin, Lorraine
Cat, Richie, & Grandma Bain,
I send my deepest heartfelt sorrow your way. I feel I have lost a brother not an in-law. We had our ups and downs just like real brothers and sisters did. BUT in a time of need we were always there for each other. Billy always went out of his way to make everybody happy. He would take the youngest of the kids under his wing and spoil them than push us away when there was a new one. We all knew we could go back to him for anything. I will always remember anytime I wanted something if Cat said NO go to Billy cause he would say ”Oh Cat!! We can get another one”. I heard this many, many times in the whole 37 + years him and Cat were together. I will sadly miss him..” I love you Billy and R.I.P.”
With all my Love, Baby Sis {Rita}
Aunt Jenny,
You know you can count on me and Rose to be here for you. You will be in our prayers and our love is always with you. Liz and I will see you Friday.
Love,
Dennis and Rose.
To family and friends,
Brooks and I are very sad that we lost Billy. Brooks only knew him for a very short time, but still was touched by his kindness. We will always remember Billy by the positive influence and the thing's he has done for all of us. I'll always remember going to stay with Cathy and Billy when I was younger. Those memories will be of Billy holding a guitar or a child in his lap. That's the way we will always remember him. I know, as a family we will get through this together and be there for each other. I'll be seeing ya'll.
with love,
Tee-Ann

I have had the pleasure of working at Southampton Correctional Center with Billy and I must say he was always a delight. His positive attitude always enlightened my spirit and I will forever remember Billy as being a person who inspired others to "PUSH" inspite of adverse conditions. Billy you will always be missed but never forgotten. May God bless your family and strengthern them in the days to come.

I am truly sorry to hear of the passing of Billy. I worked with Billy for several years at the Southampton Correctional Center. Billy was always jolly and fun to be around. I remember him as a robust, friendly, and delightful individual who was full of life. Billy was very good natured and I considered him a cool guy. I would like to extend my condolences to his family. So long Mr. "B".
Sincerely,
Valerie Bynum
