Smith, Rosa P.

Rosa Price Smith, 89, of Petersburg died Wednesday August 21, 2008. Born 1918 in Brodnax, VA to John Henry and Anna Berkley Price. She lived most of her childhood in Methodist orphanage in Petersburg after death of parents. Rosa was a longtime, very active member of Smith’s Grove United Methodist Church and an active participant in many community affairs. She has been a loving and concerned caregiver for many friends and family members over the years, she was a greatly respected and loving sister, aunt, friend and neighbor. Rosa will be missed by all who knew her. Predeceased by her husband, John Bolling Smith, sister Frances McKinney and several nieces and nephews. She is survived by sister, Josephine Logan of Petersburg and many nieces and nephews, Jean S. Clarke (Gene), Hugh L. Smith (Ana), John D. Smith (Nona), Charles M. Smith (Sue) for whom she was a second mother; Sidney C. Smith, Jr. (Lucy), John A. Smith (Carolyn), Ann R. Terrell, Emily R. Nuckols (Norwood), Lu R. Graham (Ken), Jane R. Zitta (Vic), Gertrude P. Givens (John Harvey), Robert F. Perkins (B.J.) and a host of great nieces and nephews, friends and special friend Ray Hill. Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 am Saturday, August 23, 2008 at Smith’s Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. David Lewis officiating.
