JOSEPH “JOE” ARTHUR HUNNICUTT SR, age 49, a resident of Sandston VA, entered into his rest Friday July 4, 2008 in a Mechanicsville Hospital after a long illness. Born on March 26, 1959 in Suffolk VA, he was the son of the late James “ Pop” Thomas Hunnicutt Sr. and Audrey Brill Hunnicutt. He was a retired over-the-road truck driver.
He is survived by his fiancée Jane England of Sandston; his mother Audrey B. Hunnicutt of Suffolk; a daughter, Christina H. Babcock of Indiana; three sons Joseph Arthur Hunnicutt Jr. and his wife Jennifer of Suffolk, Jason Hunnicutt of NC and Frankie England of Sandston; a brother James Thomas Hunnicutt Jr. and his wife Virginia of Sedley; six grandchildren including his beloved granddaughter Journey; three aunts Irene Crolley , Helen Hunnicutt, and Doris Ellis; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins..
Two Services in Celebration of Joe’s life will be held. The first will be on Monday July 7, 2008 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1100 Grace Street, Richmond at 7:00 p.m. The family will be at the church from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. Monday evening to receive friends prior to the service. A second Service of Celebration will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at Purviance Chapel, J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home in Wakefield VA at 11:00 a.m. The family will be at the funeral home from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. to receive friends prior to the service. Burial will follow the service on Tuesday in Old Brick Church Cemetery, Bacon’s Castle, Surry County VA, with Rev. Gary Olson officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4240 Park Place Ct., Glen Allen, VA 23060. J. T. It was an honor to have known Joe, both as a colleague and a friend. He will be missed. My family is keeping his in our thoughts and prayers.

My heartfelt condolences to the whole family. I counted Joe as a very dear friend and am sorry to hear that he passed.
