Horton, Cortelle

Cortelle Horton, 83, of Chester, passed away Friday, June 20, 2008. Born in Johnston County, NC, he was the son of the late Garland and Theresa Register Horton. He was a retired employee of Dixie Container Corporation and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. Mr. Horton was preceded in death by a grandson, Alex Harris. He is survived by his wife, Inez M. Horton; children, Judy Dillon and husband, Wayne of Selma, NC, Tony Horton and wife, Diane of Fayetteville, NC, and Karen Harris and husband, Richard of Chester; grandchildren, Yvonne Dillon, Kenneth Dillon, Tony Horton, Jr., Trisha Horton, Meredith Harris, and Sara Harris; step-granddaughter, Christy; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Myrna Barefoot, LaRue Kearney, Peggy Barnes, Gloria Allen, Evelyn House, and Delores Stewart; several nieces and nephews; special friends and neighbors. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, June 23, at the Chesterfield Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:30 AM Tuesday, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Bernard Camden officiating. Interment will follow at Dale Memorial Park.
