Avent, Betty H.

Betty Hall Avent, 83, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Monday, June 9, 2008. She was preceded in death by her parents, George O. and Cora Gibson Hall; husband, Jesse B. Avent; daughter, Sharon Avent; brother, Jack Wiberg and sister, Mary Bendall. Betty was retired from the Army and Air force Exchange where she was a supervisor in the military clothing department. She was also a member of American Legion Post #2 for over 20 years. Betty is survived by her sons, Dennis G. McAdams and wife Effie and Aubrey D. Avent and wife, Nancy; daughter, Brenda Fields and husband, Jimmy; grandsons, Brian Avent and wife, Crystal and John Kenan McAdams; granddaughters, Sharon Higgins and husband, Keith and Ulani Couper and husband, Dave; four great grandchildren; sisters, Lottie H. Pierce and Lucille H. Doyle: special friends, Doris Avent and Ellie McCaskill and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service on Friday, June 13, 2008 from 6 to 8 pm. A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, June 14th at Blandford Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to either the Southside Virginia Emergency Crew or to American Legion Post #2. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com.

Betty was An Auxiliary sister of Unit 2,I will always see her in my mind with her little flag hat and her big smile ! she always raised more money than any one with the POppy donations ,who could resist her!!May God comfort her family . It will not be same not to see her and her grandson at the Post on the special events.
