Shelton Earl Holt, 68, passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at Southampton Memorial Hospital in Franklin. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 46 years, Sue Babb Holt. Born in Southampton County, he was the son of the late Shelton M. Holt and Mary Bradshaw Holt. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam War; in 1994 he retired as a machine operator at Union Camp Corporation in Franklin, after 24 years of service; and was a member of Sedley Baptist Church. Mr. Holt was an avid sports fan and loved working in his garden.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Shelton Bruce Holt and his wife Tammy and a daughter, Alison Kaye Holt, all of Franklin; two beloved grandchildren, Alexandra Paige Holt and Kristen Grace Holt; two sisters, Nelda H. Johnson and her husband Charlie of Tarboro, NC , Mary Ann Harrell of Franklin; a stepfather, Roy L. Brooks of Ty Ty, GA; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2008 at 2:00 pm at Purviance Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, Wakefield, Virginia, with Pastor Armand Jalbert officiating. Burial will follow in Rosemont Cemetery, Sedley. The family will receive friends


at Purviance Chapel on Wednesday evening, 6:00 to 7:30 pm. Memorial Donations may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058-5216 or Sedley Baptist Church, 17494 Johnsons Mill Rd., Sedley, VA 23878. Condolences may be posted at our website at www.jtmorriss.com.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Mr. Holt was a great man and I enjoyed taking care of him when he was in the hospital. I enjoyed talking to each an one of you and getting to know all of you better. My prayers are with all of you during this time.

My deepest sympathy to you all. Earl was a great father and a wonderful man. I will always remember the jokes he used to tell when we would come to visit. Even in your mourning remember that Earl is now rejoicing in heaven with the angels and you will see him again.

Sweet Sue, my dear friend A.K. and family, My heart goes out to you all at this time. Earl was a wonderful man. He will be missed by many. A.K. NEVER forget all that he taught you. Trust me, your Dad will always be a part of you and with you always! I will be thinkin' of you all during this difficult time. I love and miss you!
