Towler, Elizabeth T.

Elizabeth Thweatt Towler, 93, formerly of Petersburg, VA died Thursday, April 24 at the home of her daughter Nancy T. Bruce where she had lived for the past eleven years. She attended Third Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Archie and Fanny Moore Thweatt and her husband, Henry K. Towler. She is survived by her twin daughters, Betsy Towler of Raleigh, NC and Nancy Bruce of Richmond, VA.; son-in-law, Lindsay Bruce; five grandchildren, B. Stanley Clarke, III and his wife, Sherri of Raleigh, NC, Elizabeth Henderson and her husband, Todd of Raleigh, NC, David Bruce and his wife Kris of Richmond, VA, Katherine Brooks and her husband, Aaron of Louisville, KY and Grant Eddy and his wife, Marci of Columbia, SC; eight great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. She graduated from Harrisonburg State Teacher’s College ( James Madison University) and taught 25 years at the Modern Kindergarten and Nursery School in Petersburg. She was a charter member of Covenant Presbyterian Church and also an Elder Emeritus. A graveside service will be conducted 1:00 pm Monday, April 28, 2008 in Blandford Cemetery, with the Rev. Sarah Nave officiating. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church, 201 Walnut Blvd., Petersburg, VA 23805. The family is being served by the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com.

My mother and yours were, are, friends. My Mom is 93 now. It is a different world without Libby. We (Mom and I) are very sorry for your loss, but rejoice in Libby's freedom to soar above the rest. She was blessed to have you hold her so close.

Mrs. Bruce & Family,

We were so sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. I know this is a difficult time but rest assurd she is in good hands now. May you have comfort knowing that heaven has another Angel.
