Marsh, Homer S.

Homer Stanley Marsh went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, April 5, 2008. He was preceded in death by his father, Wharton Tecumseh Marsh; mother, Mary Edith Marsh; brother, Morris Marsh and his wife Jane, all of Springfield, OH. Mr. Marsh dearly loved his children, and grandchildren. Surviving are a devoted daughter, Barbara; sons, John and his wife Selene, Thomas, and Paul and his wife Karen; seven beloved grandchildren, Claire, Hunter, Lynne, Nicole, Alex, Justin, and Madison; a niece, Judy Callison; and nephews, James, Warren, and Wayne Marsh, all of Springfield, OH, and Michael Crosby of Quinton, VA. Two weeks out of high school, Mr. Marsh joined the military, serving in WWII, European Theatre in General Patton’s Third Army. He retired as a Staff Sergeant. Mr. Marsh had a faith which sustained him throughout his life as different trials confronted him. He loved his church where he served 11 years as a Sunday school teacher, youth director, and member of the choir. He graduated from Richmond Professional Institute, and was employed by the State of Virginia, Department of Industrial Development as a City Planner. The family will receive friends at the J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Chesterfield on Monday, April 7, 2008 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Graveside funeral services will follow on Tuesday in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, VA at 11 a.m. Condolences to the family may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com
