Newton, Irene C.

Irene C. Newton, 92, of Disputanta, died Sunday, March 23, 2008 at the Medical College of Virginia. Mrs. Newton was born in Belfast Ireland, the daughter of the late John and Sarah Graham Crawford and was a retired sales associate for Thalhimers Department Store.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Newton, sons, Robert J. Newton and wife, Jinda, of Hopewell, William B. Newton, and wife, Linda, of Disputanta, a daughter, Phyllis I. N. Johnson and husband, Jim, of Virginia Beach, six grandchildren, Donna I.N. Hilley and husband, Steve, of Manassas, Phyllis V. Newton and fiancé, Brian Almarode, of Colonial Heights, Robert J. Johnson and Samuel E. Johnson of Virginia Beach, Kyle C. Newton, and Katie L. Newton of Disputanta; two great-grandchildren Aidan P. Hilley and Rhys C. Hilley of Manassas; three sisters Wynne Smith of Victoria, Australia, Patricia Shields and Phyllis Thompson and husband, Reginald, of Belfast, Ireland and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 26, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Hopewell Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, March 27, 2008, at 1:00 P.M. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com
