Cleotelis, Gregory Andrew

Gregory Andrew Cleotelis, 83, of Hopewell, died Monday, March 17, 2008 in John Randolph Medical Center. He was born in St. Petersburg, FL and had been a long time resident of Hopewell. Mr. Cleotelis served in the U. S. Navy during WWII and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church, past president of the Hopewell Lions Club, a founding member of the Loyal Order of Moose #1472, a 60 year member of the Tampa Masonic Lodge #240, a member of the American Legion #146, a member of American Society of Safety Engineers and served on numerous Hopewell city commissions and many other civic governmental organizations. He was retired safety engineer from Allied Chemical Corporation, Firestone Corporation and Defense General Supply Center. Mr. Cleotelis was the son of the late Andrew Gregory and Irene Kavalikis Cleotelis. He is survived by his wife, Mary Leone Cleotelis of Hopewell, three sons, Gregory Andrew Cleotelis, II and his wife Connie of Chesterfield, Samuel Anthony Cleotelis and his wife Deborah of Chester, Mark Alexander Cleotelis and his wife Ruth of Prince George, three sisters, Mary Poulos of Tallahassee, FL, Helen Harageones of Oldsmar, FL, Dorothy Cowden of Tampa, FL and many nieces and nephews. A Masonic memorial service will be held Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at 6:30 PM in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Visitation will follow until 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Resurrection will be held Thursday, March 20, 2008 at 1:30 PM in St. James Catholic Church with Rev. Frank Wiggins officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hopewell Lions Club, P.O. Box 262, Hopewell, Virginia 23860. I'm sorry to hear of your husband's passing. I knew him through the ASSE chapter some years back.

So sorry for your loss. I worked with Greg at Firestone and always saw him at the Lions Club fund raising events. He had a wonderful personality and was always nice to be around.
