Gunn, "Billy" William, Sr.

William “Bill” M. Gunn, Sr., also known as Peter Gunn, passed away Wednesday March 12, 2008. He was predeceased by his parents Leonard M. & Mary E. Carper Gunn and his first wife Edna H. Gunn, was retired from Stone Container and was a veteran of the United States Navy. Bill is survived by daughters; Debbie Gargis of Hopewell, Faye Gunn of Enon, sons; William “Bill” M. Gunn, Jr., and girlfriend Frances Dover, Michael Lee Gunn, all of Chester, granddaughter; Michelle Gargis of Chesterfield, sister; Arline Hux & husband Donald of Manns Harbor North Carolina, nephews; Don and Bill Hux of North Carolina. A funeral service will be held in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T.Morriss & Son Funeral Home Friday March 14 at 1:00 PM. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home chapel. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. I was so sorry to hear of the death of Bill. He was a classmate of mine at Roanoke Rapids High School. We graduated in 1955.

I graduated with Bill in 1955 at Roanoke Rapids and was very saddened to hear of his death. We always renewed our friendship at our class reunions.

I wish I could be at his service but I have a previous commitment.

I am so sorry for the loss of your father. I have lots of memories from growing up in the neighborhood and seeing both of your parents, your dad was always friendly and happy. I know you all will miss him but hold on to your memories because you have way more than I and that is a blessing. Take care and God Bless you all.
