Spain, Herbert P.,Sr

Herbert Preston Spain, Sr., 71, of Prince George County departed this life on Saturday, March 1, 2008 after a long illness. Herbert served his country in the U. S. Navy. He was the former owner of Spain’s Texaco and later retired from Allied Signal after 20 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward E. and Nina W. Spain and his mother-in-law, Amma Bragg. Herbert is survived by his wife, Virginia Mae Spain; son, Herbert Preston Spain, Jr.; step-children, Michael A. Ellison and wife, Julieanne and Kimberly E. Strubel; grandchildren, Brandon G. Ellison, Audrey L. Ellison, Remington C. Strubel and Herbert P. Spain, III; sisters, Julia Brooks and Shirley Rosser; sister-in-law, Janice marks and husband, Clyde; six nieces and two nephews. The family will receive friends at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home tonight, Monday, March 3, 2008, from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens.
