Mrs. Jenny Hawkins, born May 16, 1932 departed her life on Monday, February 25, 2008. She was a resident of Petersburg. She is predeceased in death by her husband John W. Hawkins and brother, Billie Phillips. Jenny leaves to cherish her loving daughters, Deborah Powell and husband, James and Billie Jo Hawkins Southern and husband, Lionell of Texas; one brother of Petersburg, Bobby Phillips, along with her grandchildren, Antione Cole, Katina Brown, Teresa C. Fitzgerald, and John W. Southern of Texas. She will be well missed by her great grandchildren, John W. Campo, Kiana Cole, Sylvia Brown, Bianca Winfield, Larry Cole, Cortez Cole, Tyrecus Holmes and her devoted niece Brenda Traylor (William) of Dinwiddie; two sister-in-laws, June Phillips and Judy Phillips of Amelia, VA. The family will receive friends at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service on Thursday, February 28, 2008 from 6 to 8 pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, February 29, 2008 at 1:30 pm with Dr. Ivan Perkinson officiating. Burial will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park. Dear Deborah & Billie Jo, I was so sorry to learn of your mother's death. She was a sweet and funny lady. She used to have tupperware parties & I was her tupperware lady for several years. I have thought of you all often and believed that all of you had left the area. May God bless and comfort you in your hours of sorrow. May God shower you with His abundant love.
