Dewey, Alvin A., Sr.

Alvin Alex Dewey, Sr., age 59, of Chester, VA, died on Saturday, February 23, 2008. He was born in Grand Rapids, MI, the son of the late Ralph and Dorothy Nelson Dewey. Alvin was a retired Staff Sergeant with the U. S. Army, a building and grounds employee with Chesterfield County, and a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Colonial Heights. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Yong S. Dewey; daughter, Bonnie J. Dewey; and son, Alvin A. Dewey, Jr., all of Chester; two brothers, Ralph Dewey and wife Wanda, and Lester Dewey and wife Jeannette all of Grand Rapids, MI; and a sister-in-law, Yong S. Nix and husband Sam of Dinwiddie, VA. The family will receive friends at the Chesterfield chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home on Monday, February 25, 2008 from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, February 26, 2008 in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. in the Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia, VA.
