Greene, Jasper Lee

Jasper Lee Greene, 57, of Chester died Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at his residence. He was born in Hopewell and had been a lifetime resident. Mr. Greene was a disabled veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. having served during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a former insulator for Old Dominion Insulation. Mr. Greene was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Eugene and Willa Mae Fields Greene and a brother-in-law, Charles Currier. Mr. Greene is survived by two sons, Trevor Knapp of Salt Lake City, UT, Derek L. Greene and his fiancee’ Cindy Tomlinson, a grandson, Evan L. Greene, all of Prince George, a brother Lester W. Greene and his wife Nancy of Hopewell, three sisters, Barbara G. Currier of Hudson, FL, Alice G. Ozmore and her husband Gilbert of Hopewell, Billie Jean Henderson and her husband Jerry of Chesterfield, special friends, Jeff Hill and Sheila Eades, of Chester, Brenda Moore of Colonial Heights, several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family will receive friends Monday, February 25, 2008 from 7:00 to 8:30 PM in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A funeral service, with military honors, will be held Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Leon Burchett, associate pastor of Meadowood Church of God, Richmond, VA officiating. Interment will be in Appomattox Cemetery. Condolences may be registered with www.jtmorriss.com

To Lester: I was sorry to hear of the loss of your brother Jackie. I remember so well how good you boys were to my Mom. May you be comforted by memories of your happy times together.

Only this morning did I learn of "Uncle Jackie's" passing, and I express my sincere condolences to his sons and grandson, and to my aunts and uncle on the death of their brother. The memories I have of him are pleasant ones, and I know he shall be greatly missed.
