Lawrence James “Jim” Frakes, 58, of McKenney died Tuesday at his home. He was the son of the late Dahrold Lawrence and Mary Turner Frakes. He was a heavy equipment operator for Chaparral Steal Works, a member of American Legion post 0141 of Richmond, Virginia, and served his country in the Navy aboard the USS Forrestal, during the Vietnam War. He is survived by his wife Iris Rose Frakes of McKenney; son, Jason Frakes and wife Deborah of Dinwiddie; grand-daughters, Tiffany Walker of Brunswick County, Courtney Walker of Dinwiddie, and Brittany Lewis and husband Joseph of South Hill; sisters Julie Field and husband Samuel of Crestview Florida, Kristina Lawler of Kirby, Texas, and Frances Adams of Columbus, GA, aunt Merlene Taylor of Semmes, Alabama. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
