White, Sr., Col. Ret. Herbert L.

Col. Herbert Lee White, Sr. U.S. Army (Ret) 78, of Petersburg, died Sunday, February 17, 2008. He was a native of Smithfield, VA the son of the late John T. and Georgia Thomas White. He was a retired Colonel who served the Korean and Vietnam wars in the U.S. Army. He was a district supervisor for AARP, Prince George Lions Club, retired officers association, Alumni of VA State University, President of the Administrative Board at Washington Street United Methodist Church with 30 years of dedicated service. He is survived by his wife, Rosa A. White; son, Herbert Lee White, Jr., of Fairfax, VA; sisters, Blanche White of Newport, VA, Clarice White of Smithfield, VA; devoted great nephew, Col. Rodney Davis U.S. Army (Ret) of Norfolk, VA., numerous nieces and nephews, host of friends, very special family friend, Mary J. Easley. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Friday, February 22, 2008 at Washington Street United Methodist Church, Petersburg, VA., the family will receive friends one hour prior at the church. Interment will be in Southlawn Memorial Park. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com.

I was so sorry to hear of Herberts death and was unable to attend the service due to my health. May God be with you in the days to come and give you peace.

Rosa, Hank and I are praying for you during this most difficult time. Please remember all the goods times, share Herbs story with everyone you meet, and time will ease the pain. God Bless you and your family during this difficult time.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and especially your Mom this day; I know what you're feeling and it's hard, but time does heal and you have your wonderful memories...I know how much you love your Dad and how much you think of both parents...please let me know if I can do anything, I'm here my Herbie; Hug your Mom for me; Godspeed on your return trip.
