To the family of the late Mrs. Seely-Hufford:

To the Hufford Family:
I didn't get a chance to know Leila very well because she was with us such a short time, but I remember well the night she auditioned for Sweet Adelines and how worried she was that she might not pass the audition. She did, and with flying colors! I was fortunate to have her placed beside me on the risers as she and I would be singing the same part. She was very dedicated to learning the music and wanting to do everything just right. We had some laughs as we stepped on each other's feet while learning new choreography. Not having her presence beside me will leave a large hole for me and the chorus as well. We will all miss her and all the fun we might have had together in the future. Please know that my family's thoughts and prayers as well as those of all of our Sweet Adeline family go out to your family in this terrible loss.

To the Hufford Family,
My heart and prayers go out to each one of you as you try to deal with the loss of your wife and mother. Leila was in my first class(4th grade) at Calvin Coolidge School in Binghamton. Being a new teacher, I had no idea the impact we would have on each other. Right from the start, I knew Leila was special;she was a very determined little girl with a mind of her own. There were many hurdles in her life, but she bravely overcame them to become a loving wife, mother, and teacher. When she told me she wanted to become a teacher, I was surprised and thrilled at the same time. She honored me by asking if she could spend time each week in my class working with the students. It was a joy to watch her interacting with the children;it was during this time that I knew she had that special" something" it takes to make a truly great teacher. Leila even invited me to her graduation from SUNY Cortland, and as I watched her receive her degree, my heart was bursting with pride and admiration--my little Leila had come full circle!.It was at her graduation that I got to meet all of you for the first time;then just before I retired, Bob, you and Leila came to my classroom to take home books and other supplies she could use in her classroom.
Leila enriched my life, and I will always be grateful for her friendship and loyalty.May God bless you and give you strength at this difficult time.

Dear Hufford family, You are all in our prayers everyday. Mrs. Hufford was a once in a lifetime teacher for Zachary, and every student in her 4th grade class at Wells. She took each child and embraced them for who they were, and never tried to put them in a "box" We will forever remember her, and can not explain what a loss we are all feeling. We know she is with God, and her soul will rest in eternal peace. God bless you all- The Carpenter Family

Bob, I was very saddened to learn of Leila's death in church on Sunday. I know I can speak for the choir when I say that we were just getting to really know Leila and enjoy her very much. She was truly an asset to our choir. We were so proud of her for making Sweet Adalines and she was very excited and looking forward to those competitions. i just wanted everyone to know what a wonderful person the world has just lost, and what an angel god has recieved into his kingdom. She truley changed lives, not only in the children she taught, but also in her co-workers. When she finally got her job at C.C. Wells, she came back to Marguerite Christian to say "Hi", she was so excited-you could see it in her face. Her wish had come true. She only had a short time with her new students & school,, but I know personally from one of her students that she touched them deeply, and will be forever missed by us ALL.
May god be with you and bless you always!
