Mary Nester Gainey, 96, of Claremont, widow of Troy L. Gainey, Jr., passed away Tuesday, February 05, 2008. Born in Dinwiddie County, she was the daughter of the late Matthew and Gertrude Braugh Nester. She was a member of Claremont United Methodist Church. Mrs. Gainey is survived by her daughter, Troilen Gainey Seward and her husband, William E. Seward, III; grandchildren, Susan Blair Seward and her husband, David Gregory Root of Waverly and William E. Seward, IV and wife, Sophia Cain Seward of Claremont; and great-grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Seward and Mary Blair Seward also of Claremont. A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday, February 8, at Southlawn Memorial Park, with the Rev. Melanie Franklin officiating. The family will receive friends at the residence of her daughter, Troilen Seward.
