Merritt Lacy Perkins, age 79, of Richmond, VA, died on Saturday, February 2, 2008. Born in Halifax County, VA, he was the son of the late Walter T. & Daisey Whitt Perkins. He was preceded in death by his wife Edith B. Perkins. Merritt is survived by his children, Joy James, Pam Nymann, JoAnne Seward, Brenda Thompson, and Merritt “Smokey” L. Perkins, Jr.; step-children, Jerry Parker, Michael Parker, Edsel Long, and Anthony Long; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother, Neil Perkins; and sister, Rachel Moisoff.
