Parker, Helen M.

Helen McIlwaine Parker passed away Friday, February 1, 2008, in Cartersville, GA. She was the daughter of the late John L. and Leonora R. McIlwaine and granddaughter of Preston and Helen Roper. Mrs. Parker was a graduate of Petersburg High School and Farmville State Teachers College (now Longwood University). She was a member of Second Presbyterian Church, the Cockade City Garden Club, and the Country Club of Petersburg, where she was an avid golfer. She enjoyed working part-time at the Petersburg Visitors Center. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Loren L. Parker, Jr.; son and daughter-in-lawn, John R. “Randy” and Tish Parker; grandson, John R. “Jay” Parker and granddaughter, Autumn A. “Ali” Parker. Funeral services for Mrs. Parker will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday at the graveside at Blandford Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Dan Hale officiating. I used to work with Helen at the Petersburg Museums. She was a kind, caring person. My sincere condolences to the Parker and McIlwaine families.

I worked with Helen in the Dept. of Tourism for many years. Her wonderful sense of humor, her sense of family and history and yet her ability to make you feel at ease will be greatly missed.

To Our extended Family We send out our sympathy to all of you at this time. We were blessed to have Helen at our facility for the time we got to spend with her she was such a joy. May she rest in peace now and not have to worry no more about going home for she is at home with our Heavenly Father.We love you all and our prayers are with you at this time.
