Parker, Helen M.

Helen McIlwaine Parker passed away Friday, February 1, 2008, in Cartersville, GA. She was the daughter of the late John L. and Leonora R. McIlwaine and granddaughter of Preston and Helen Roper. Mrs. Parker was a graduate of Petersburg High School and Farmville State Teachers College (now Longwood University). She was a member of Second Presbyterian Church, the Cockade City Garden Club, and the Country Club of Petersburg, where she was an avid golfer. She enjoyed working part-time at the Petersburg Visitors Center. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Loren L. Parker, Jr.; son and daughter-in-lawn, John R. “Randy” and Tish Parker; grandson, John R. “Jay” Parker and granddaughter, Autumn A. “Ali” Parker. Funeral services for Mrs. Parker will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday at the graveside at Blandford Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Dan Hale officiating.
