Alton N. Kitchen, age 89, a resident of Waverly and a retired mechanic died Jan. 23, 2008 at his home. He was a U. S. Army Veteran of World War II. He loved the outdoors and liked to hunt and fish. He is survived by a brother. Joseph O. Kitchen of Waverly, a niece Patricia Hicks of Gloucester and a nephew Keith O. Kitchen of Seyler Va. A graveside funeral service was held in Waverly Cemetery at 2:00 PM Friday Jan. 25, 2008 by the Rev. Joy Heaton. Purviance Chapel of J. T. Morriss and Son Funeral Service and Cremation Service is handling arrangements.
