Benjamin E. Poythress, III, 55, of Petersburg died Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at Southside Regional Medical Center. He was predeceased by his father Benjamin E. Poythress, Jr., a devoted son and loving brother, and a member of First Baptist Church in Petersburg. He is survived by his mother, Sarah C. Poythress of Petersburg; brother, Bob Poythress and wife, Betty; niece, Sarah and nephew, Carter Poythress all of Virginia Beach, and several aunts and uncles. Graveside service will be conducted 10:00 am Saturday, January 19, 2008 at Southlawn Memorial Park. The family is being served by the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058-5216.

I lived beside Ben and Sarah for a few years and had just run into Ben at Walmart, where I would normally see him. I am still in shock from the news. He was a good guy. I enjoyed having him as a neighbor and send my deepest sympathy to Sarah and his brother and extended family. Love, The Johnson Family

I grew up with Bengi in Petersburg. It has been many years since I have seen or talked to him.I have been gone from Petersburg for many years. I now reside in Florida.
I hope he had a good life. My sympathy to the family and his brother Bob.
