Overby, David H., Jr.

David Herbert Overby, Jr., 77, of Dinwiddie went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 8, 2007. David was a loving husband, father, grandfather and dear friend to many that will be greatly missed and remembered. He was a dedicated employee of Tarmac that retired after 43 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, David Herbert Overby Sr. and Lucille Overby; brother, Robert “Bobby” Overby and sister, Delores Powell. David is survived by his one and only love of 56 years, Edith I. Overby; children, Sylvia Elder and husband, Jimmy, Cynthia Tereschenko, David Wayne Overby and wife, Cari, Gail Jones and husband, Jeff, Yvonne Crafton, and Starr Overby; grandchildren, Chris, Dwayne, Shawn, Ryan, Jessica, Ben, Dawn, Rosa, Christle, Dominic, Amanda, Brian, Kerry, Noah, and Shelbee; thirteen great-grandchildren; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, George and Kathleen Soloe. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, December 11, at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Robert Rowland, pastor of Smyrna Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park.
