Whitt, Carolyn R.

Sunday, December 09, 2007

Carolyn Regina Crawford Whitt, age 66, of McKenney, VA formerly of Hopewell, VA went to be with the Lord on December 9, 2007. She was employed by Dinwiddie County Voter Registration Office and retired from Hopewell Fire Department. She was a member of Dinwiddie Church of the Nazarene. In compliance and accord with the Biblical promise “to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord,” Carol laid aside her earthly abode to enter eternal rest through her Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. She was born July 19, 1941 in Elkins, WV to Edward Lee and Mary Christina Crawford. Saved at a young age, her life was forever redirected to serve her beloved Savior and encourage others into eternal salvation, freely offered to all who choose to believe. She leaves behind her beloved sons, Mike and wife, Deba, Troy and wife, Judi and Todd; her beloved daughter, Missy and husband, Gilbert; her grandchildren, Christopher, Amber, Chat Caitlyn, Kiersten, Jon, Dalton, Hunter and Landon Whitt, Alexis and Aubree Carrasquillo; her beloved brothers, Gary Crawford and wife, Yvonne of Smoot, WV and Leonard Crawford and wife, Dolly of Santee, SC; her beloved sister, Martha Sars and husband, John of Cookeville, TN and a number of nieces and nephews. She was known by most as “Grams”, given to her by her grandchildren, but she was also mother, sister, daughter and friend and will be missed. “Well done good and faithful servant.” The family will receive friends at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service on Tuesday, December 11th from 6 to 8 pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 12th at 11 am with the Rev. Loren Million officiating. Interment will follow at Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens, Prince George, VA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058 or the American Cancer Society, Wesy Chappell, 1117 Ft. Hayes Dr., Petersburg, VA 23805. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com.

Condolences

I was so sorry to hear of your Mothers passing. Carol and I were childhood friends, sang in elementary school talent contest, (your grandmother Crawford taughted us the song to sing), double dated in High School. and roomed together in Washington,when we came there to work. We had lost touch over the years, but I have thought of her often. She was always devoted to her family.
God Bless You

Sorry to learn of the passing of your Mom. I knew her years ago in Elkins WV. I am 1 month and one day older than her and we were playmates on Central St. even before going to school. We graduated the same class at Elkins High. She was always a sweet girl and a good dancer too as I remember. I offered a prayer for her, accept my condolences.

Missy
May God grant you and your family the peace that he has now given to your mom. Give you comfort in the dark times and the knowledge of her love for you all. You know I am here for anything that you need, Support and laughter.

I am so sorry for your loss. Carol was a very special person and she will certainly be missed by many.
This poem made me think of her.

A MESSAGE FROM HEAVEN
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say.
But first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; Here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I am with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through.
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you.

It's good to have you back again, you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, They'll be here later on.
I need you here badly, you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years.
Because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry: it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
If I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
But together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too;
That as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain;
Then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life was worthwhile.
Knowing as I passed along the way I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low;
Just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go....from that body to be free.
Remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

To the Whitt children:
Your mother was a special lady, and I know she loved you children and your children more than anything in this world. She was a good friend of my mother's and I know if Mom could understand now, she would be there. She thought the world of Carol. I will always remember our beach fishing trips, long before any of you were born. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.

I am terrible sad for the lost of my American Mom, she opened her heart and home to me when I need a place to stay, but not only that, she became my second Mom, and Todd, Troy, Mike my brothers and Missy my loving sister. I know Mom is watching us from heaven and she is in a much better place than us, but it's hard not to miss a wonderful loving woman that care for others more than she care for herself. Our families became one I know will stay like that forever.

Love you Mom always,

Luchy.

To Carol's family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Carol was a lovely lady.I will always treasure the past twenty years,
when we would see each other during tax season.We would talk and laugh and talk and laugh and talk and laugh some more; actually forgetting why she had come by.So much to catch up on! I admired her strength, her determination and her patience. She loved her children and grandchildren above all others. I am proud to call her my friend. Rest in peace my dear Carol. I will see you again someday. Then once again we will catch up! I love you, my friend. May God be with you all at this time. Sincerely, Bernice
