Brenda Irene Holt Ney of Sussex County passed away in the early morning of December 4, 2007. A beloved wife and mother was born November 13, 1950 to the late Charlie and Winifred Holt. She was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Randy and Frances Holt.
She leaves behind her husband, companion and best friend, Leonard B. “Rocky” Ney; her children, Christine Lewis; John Tanyer, Jr., and daughter-in-law, Brandi Tanyer; grandson, Noah Lewis; four brothers; and many beloved friends and family.
The family would like to thank the staff members of Southside Regional Hospital in Petersburg and MCV in Richmond for the care our Mom received during her brief stay.
Branda, “Irene” to her family, loved to sing Karaoke, decorate her home for the holidays, and cook for her family.
A funeral service will be held at the Purviance Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, Wakefield, on Saturday, December 8, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be held in Waverly Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to LifeNet Health, 1864 Concert Drive, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23453-1903. HELLO, I KNOW THAT YOU DON'T KNOW ME, BUT I WOULD LIKE TO OFFER YOUR FAMILY MY SINCEREST CONDOLENCE. I DO NOT KNOW YOUR PAIN BUT I DO KNOW THE PAIN OF LOOSING SOMEONE YOU LOVE DEARLY. A FEW YEARS AGO MY FATHER DIED AT THE AGE OF 59 AND MY MOTHER DIED AROUND SIX MONTHS LATER AT THE AGE OF 58. MY MOTHER AND I WHERE VERY CLOSE. SHE AND I TALKED SEVERAL TIMES ADAY EVERY DAY. I WOULD LIKE TO SHARE WITH YOU WHAT BRINGS ME COMFORT AND HOPE OF SEEING OUR LOVED ONES AGAIN. THE BIBLE COMPARES DEATH TO SLEEP(PSALMS 13:3). JESUS SAID HE WILL RESURRECT OUR DEAD LOVED ONES(JOHN 5:28, 29). DID YOU KNOW THAT RESURRECTION WILL TAKE PLACE RIGHT HERE ON THE EARTH(PSALMS 37:29).
