Hawkins, Catherine H.

Catherine H. Hawkins, 78, of Carson, VA, widow of Otis Earl Hawkins, Jr., passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2007. Born in Carson, she was the daughter of the late William Daniel and Edna King Harwell. She was retired Postmistress of the Carson Post office, a member of Salem United Methodist Church and a member of the Retired 238 Postmasters. Mrs. Hawkins is survived by her son, David Earl Hawkins of Carson; daughter, Cathy H. Hardee and husband, Denny of South Hill, VA; granddaughters, Bridget Hawkins of Mechanicsville and Crystal Hawkins of Portsmouth. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Edith Harwell Baird. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, November 29, at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday at Salem United Methodist Church with The Rev. Gary Sims and The Rev. Lee Warren officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Prince George Emergency Crew, P. O. Box 308, Prince George, VA 23875 or Salem United Methodist Church, 19312 Templeton Road, Carson, VA 23830.
