Anderson, Velma C.

Velma Carter Anderson, age 87, of Hopewell, VA, died on Friday, November 16, 2007. She was born in Fayette County, WV, the daughter of the late Charles L. and Mattie Proffitt Carter. Velma was also preceded in death by her husband, George R. Anderson. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hopewell, and a retired shift supervisor with Firestone in Hopewell. Velma is survived by a Step daughter, Diane L. McMurray; grand-daughter, Katherine L. McMurray; grandson, Randall E. McMurray all of Hopewell; a sister, Pamelia Bettis and husband John; nephew, Robert Bettis and wife Dixie Ann; and great niece, Teresa, all of Fredericksburg, VA; close friends, Gladys and Willard Lesley and Bobby and Susie Anderson; and other nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Hopewell, on Monday, November 19, 2007, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will follow there on Tuesday at 11 a.m. Interment will take place in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, VA.
