William Stewart Meredith, 73, of Ford died Friday, November 2, 2007. He was a native of Ford, born the son of the late Raymond A. and Evelyn Glass Meredith. Mr. Meredith retired from Columbia Gas and continued his love of farming. He is survived by his wife Shelia W. Meredith; a special aunt Laura “Sis” Wray of Ford; a sister-in-law Eva Nell Meredith of Petersburg; three nephews Robert H. Chambers of Ford, Roland E. Meredith, Jr. of Petersburg and William Gregory Meredith of Petersburg; very special friends Michael Hamer and wife Nathalie of Ford, David Skelton of Dinwiddie, Robin Gupton of Ford, Guy Crowe and his wife Tibbie; his loyal and faithful Jack Russell, “Buffy”; and several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Dorothy Chambers, a brother Roland E. Meredith and a niece Marsh C. Cataldo. The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 6th at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service from 6:30 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. on Wednesday with Rev. George Whipple officiating, interment to follow in Southlawn Memorial Park. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Foundation.
