In the short amount of time that I came to know Paul,I recognized his Caring, Kind, Loving and Patient Ways. I'll never forget the first time I met him, he drove to Henricus park with his loving wife Toni and Grandchildren Carli and Calvin as I followed with my three children. I found out that he knew an anormous amount about history, because he loved to read books to relax.
Paul loved to talk about "Bob Dylan" (He was quite a fan you know)You'd think they might be the best of buddies. He would play games with the children and teach them the things he knew. He loved all of his grandchildren and children/stepchildren which was always plain to see through every action that he made. Although, I was never related by immediate flesh, except somewhere through Adam and Eve. Paul always made me feel that I was welcome in his home and treated me honestly as if I were part of the family. Iam thankful that Paul was this way, because he gave me a friend (his wife Toni)who has always been like a spiritual mother to me. I used to tell her that we were like Ruth and Naomi in the Bible. That would have never been possible if he'd never shared. Emily, Ruthie, Jennie Buddy, Casey,Rob,Carli,Calvin, Savannah and Most of all Toni. Thank you for sharing your father/grandfather/husband. Paul and all of you have given me many gifts just through coming to know you. My family and I will miss Paul until we see him in the new earthly paradise.
I've been taking account of all the experiences Paul and I have had over the 34 years that we knew each other; canoe trips, car trips, but most of all, our shared musical experiences. Paul was a creative musician that could always put a new twist on anything he played. Whenever I would get into a musical rut, he could always inspire me with new ideas. His grasp of music theory was astounding. Paul had a quick wit and an opinion on everything. He was a keen observer. I'll miss our talks on politics, theology, current events, and most of all, our discussion of all things musical. He loved music and Paul cherished his family. He taught me so much & now there is a great void in my life. My thoughts and my prayers are with Toni and all of Paul's family.
