Gary Dale Adkins, Sr. “Grumpy”, 67, of Dinwiddie passed away on Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at his residence. He was born November 5, 1939 in Garten, West Virginia the son of the late Jess and Bessie Smith Adkins. Grumpy worked at Central State Hospital for over 20 years. He is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Judith Adkins of Dinwiddie; daughter, Crystal Adkins of Richmond; son, Gary Dale Adkins, Jr. of Dinwiddie, step-son, James M. Hall of Chesterfield; brother, David M. Adkins and wife, Faye of Covington, Louisiana; his special friends, Rachel, Jena and Sunsiri “Sunie” Martin and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service on Monday, October 1, 2007 from 6 to 8 pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 2, 2007 at 2 pm. Burial will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com.

I miss you so much!! I know that your no longer in pain but it still hurts me so much not to have you here. It still doesnt feel real. Its almost as if you are playing a really bad joke on me. I'm glad I at least got to talk to you the day before you passed. I wish I had been with you. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH !!!! YOU WERE AND STILL ARE EVERYTHING TO ME!! Its really hard for me,but I will get through this some how. I tried to do everything you asked me to do for your service. I hope I made you proud. I also promise to watch out for Bubbie like you asked me to do. I will think of you every day and KEEP YOU IN MY HEART FOREVER. I WAS EXTREMELY LUCKY TO HAVE A DADDY AS WONDERFUL AS YOU....I LOVE YOU DADDY.....I hope you can finally rest now.
